NickServ
The Comic-Reach Nickname Service ('NickServ') is designed to allow chatters on this network to register (reserve)their nickname so that only they can use it.
Guidelines:
- Please limit the number of nicknames you register. Abuse of the NickServ service will not be tolerated.
- Please do not register (steal) other peoples nicknames.
How to use NickServ
Commands are sent to NickServ via private messages (or whispers).
To open a private message session with NickServ do the following: /msg NickServ command
For example: /msg NickServ help
Once a command is issued to NickServ with /msg Nickserv Microsoft Comic Chat users will have a whisperbox open, mIRC users will have a query window; with both of these you can now type the commands directly.

NickServ Commands
- help
NickServ returns a complete list of commands. To get more specific help on a command use help command
For example: help register
- register
Used to register your current nickname with NickServ.
To register a nickname type the command a password and your e-mail address
To get more specific help on a command use help command
For example: register mypassword me@email.com
- passchange
Is used to change the password for the current nickname
To change your password type the command your-current-password then your-new-password
For example: passchange oldpassword newpassword
- e-mail
Think of this as the 'I forgot my password' you see on many websites. Your password will be e-mailed to you as soon as possible.
To retreive your password use the command then the nickname you want the password for.
For example: e-mail jobob
- drop
Unregisters a nickname with comic-reach nickname service (NickServ).
To use you must be using the nickname you wish to drop; then type the command and your password.
For example: drop mypassword
- ghost
Instruct NickServ to remove a ghost (of you) from the server.
To remove a ghost use the command, the ghost nickname and your password.
For example: ghost my-registered-nick mypassword
Ghosts occur when your connection to the server has timed out leaving a ghost.
You cannot get back on to the server with your nickname until the ghost is gone.
